Bass Islet by Laura Oczos is a new sylistic direction for her and part of a larger body of work that is inspired by the landscape and the way memory and meaning can change through retelling.These paintings are inspired by the landscape that the artist exists in and seeks to capture the beauty of the everyday. Though inspired by specific places, they are painted from memory and often combine multiple points of view and play with proportion, colour and whimsy to capture the spirit of the moment rather than an exact likness.
